Software sustainability is based on integrating sustainable practices into its development. One of its dimensions is human sustainability, which considers the impact on development teams and users. When this infrastructure is insufficient or restricted, it is called limited technological infrastructure, which hinders the development of sustainable software and its positive impact on society. Studies in software sustainability prioritize application infrastructure, neglecting human sustainability and its impact on vulnerable communities with limited infrastructure. These communities face challenges related to connectivity, access to technological resources, a lack of information technology (IT) skills, and a lack of soft skills for work, which limit their opportunities in their context. This article proposes a human sustainability model for software products with limited infrastructure. This model seeks to incorporate sustainable practices into the software development lifecycle, prioritizing the human aspect and equitable access. The model was applied on the island of Providencia, Colombia, a vulnerable community facing infrastructure challenges, including limited energy resources, unstable internet connectivity, restricted access to equipment and technological platforms, and a lack of IT skills. This model fosters the development of sustainable software from software engineering, promotes access to digital platforms, social and labor equity through training in digital skills, and the responsible use of sustainable software products, thus boosting economic development in the impacted communities.References
