Las nanoemulsiones representan una plataforma emergente en la administración controlada de fármacos debido a su capacidad para transportar y liberar compuestos bioactivos, mejorar su biodisponibilidad y permitir una liberación sostenida en el sitio de acción. Su tamaño nanométrico y alta estabilidad cinética facilitan la penetración en tejidos biológicos y la protección de moléculas terapéuticas frente a la degradación enzimática. En el campo biomédico, estas nanoestructuras han mostrado gran potencial en la administración de agentes hidrofóbicos y terapias combinadas. La creciente evidencia científica respalda su potencial para revolucionar la administración farmacéutica, aunque aún persisten barreras clave para su aplicación clínica masiva. Este trabajo es un breve resumen donde se presenta una descripción de las nanoemulsiones, los métodos de síntesis más empleados y las técnicas de caracterización. Finalmente, se muestran una de sus múltiples aplicaciones, la liberación controlada de fármacos.Citas
